The Emergency Medical Services Squad is concerned with the well being and health of all students and persons on campus. The squad operates Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. - 8 a.m. and are on-call 24 hours a day over the weekend. There are always two staff E.M.T. on duty to respond to any medical or health problem that may occur. We have basic life support equipment readily available as well as access to advanced life support equipment if needed. The squad transports patients to nearest hospitals via our ambulance. The squad is in need of volunteers. If you are interested in joining a team of dedicated individuals, consider volunteering your time. You need not be certified in any medical field, but if you are interested in becoming an E.M.T. this is a great place to begin. Call us at 299-2345. Thank you for your consideration.
What is an E.M.T.?
An E.M.T. is an Emergency Medical Technician who is certified by a state curriculum to perform life-saving techniques. E.M.T.'s usually, but not necessarily, volunteer for Fire Departments or other EMS squads.

E.M.S. Terms

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): A technique used to "restart" the heart.

Automatic External Defibrillator (AED): A device utilized by EMS personnel to send electrical current to the heart.

Vital Signs: Are taken by the EMT. Includes blood pressure, skin pallor, pulse, etc.

Backboard & Collar: Used to support the spine and back in a fall or other injury.

Who is the EMS Staff?
The EMS staff is made up of 6 EMT's.
