Business Administration
Today, the world of business changes over night. You need to be sharp and flexible to succeed. Gone are the days of working for the same company for 40 years. Business is lean, mean and global. While the challenges are great, the opportunities are even greater. Earning your master's degree in Business Administration will give you the competitive edge you'll need to maximize your marketability.

The College of Management's School of Business offers a wide range of options on the graduate level.

The 60-credit AACSB-accredited M.B.A. Program is designed to give you broad knowledge and understanding of the business world through its foundation and core courses while allowing you to specialize in one of the following areas:

General Business Administration
If you elect not to choose a specific concentration, you can earn a General Business degree. You may select a combination of four courses at the 700 level from any concentration and may take courses in the School of Professional Accountancy to fulfill the elective requirements for the General M.B.A. degree (please see Graduate Bulletin).

Finance
The concentration in Finance develops skills and knowledge which enable you to understand and analyze the financial challenges of businesses. Emphasis is placed on domestic and worldwide financial markets and how they are interrelated in today's global economy. Courses also focus on the financial management of small and large businesses.

The finance curriculum is divided into two areas: Corporate Financial Management and Financial Markets and Services. Specific electives are determined by you and your advisor, and courses may be chosen from either area of interest, depending on your career goals.

International Business
The International Business concentration focuses on decision-making in an international context and prepares you for positions within multinational organizations. Business functions are related to the sociocultural, political, legal and labor forces that affect global corporations. This program evaluates the theoretical and practical opportunities and risks of doing business in an increasingly complex and interdependent world.

Logistics & Supply Chain Management
Logistics has grown into an increasingly prominent field as the world has become more interconnected. Businesses both large and small are being affected by an evolving global economy. Logistics includes the management of goods and services from raw materials to final customer as well as the recycling of the product at the conclusion of its life. Many companies today also require logistics personnel to be familiar with supply chain management - which involves all of the activities associated with moving goods from the raw-materials stage to the end user.

The M.B.A. with a concentration in Logistics & Supply Chain Management offers a broad knowledge and understanding of the business world through required core courses enhanced by courses in this fascinating and much sought after specialization.

Management
The Management concentration focuses on the interrelated functions of business enterprises, large and small, that determine their viability in the global marketplace. Goal setting, organizational structures, management philosophies and cultures, ethics, production and measurement processes, problem analysis and decision-making techniques are all explored within a range of problematic internal and external environments.

Management Information Systems
The Management Information Systems (MIS) concentration provides you with a strong foundation in the organizational and management issues related to information systems and information technology. Choose 12 credits to learn about Computer Software, Systems Analysis and Design, Data and Database Management, Decisions Support and Executive Support Systems, Management of Telecommunication Networks, and Global IT and Global Electronic Commerce Issues.

Graduates of this program are prepared to work in a diverse range of corporate and institutional settings, interacting with both the functional business and computer technology areas.

Marketing
The Marketing concentration provides you with an in-depth knowledge of how goods and services are created, priced, distributed and promoted. In a competitive global economy, marketing is the means by which companies gain a competitive edge. Technology is changing all business models and marketers are becoming more adept at using technology to better understand and serve their customers. You will learn to factor financial, accounting and management considerations into your marketing decision making.

J. D./M.B.A.
The dual J.D./M.B.A. program prepares you for a variety of challenging careers in law firms, domestic and international corporations, not-for-profit organizations, government agencies and consulting firms. The J.D. degree, offered by Touro Law Center, just 20 minutes away in Huntington, Long Island, provides fundamental legal theory and emphasizes critical thinking, analysis and communication skills. The M.B.A. degree, which is AACSB accredited and offered by the College of Management at Long Island University's C.W. Post Campus, contributes a strong theoretical and practical grounding in the principles of business administration. The dual degree provides a comprehensive understanding of the interaction of the fields of business and law.

The program's unique strengths include mastery of organizational processes and structures, administrative and management techniques and policy analysis and creation. Earning the dual degree positions you for leadership roles in the rapidly changing and integrating fields of business administration and law.

The number of credits required to obtain the dual degree ranges from 105 to 123, as up to 12 credits from each program can be transferred to the other. Pursuing the dual degree offers the advantage of eliminating 24 additional credits which would be required for graduation if the degrees were pursued independently. Although this is a dual program, the J.D. and M.B.A. degrees are awarded separately by their respective degree-granting institutions upon successful completion of graduation requirements. Students must apply and be admitted to each institution separately.

Business Administration - Advanced Certificate
In today's rapidly changing business world, many M.B.A. graduates find that to further their careers, they must either upgrade their skills or acquire additional expertise in areas such as accounting, finance, international business, management, management information systems, and marketing. Our Advanced Certificate in Business Administration is designed to provide this opportunity and may be earned by successfully completing 12 credits in a specific concentration offered in the M.B.A. program.
