S.C.A.L.E. & A.C.E Student and Family Guide on
Grading and Transfer of Credit
Students registering for courses through either S.C.A.L.E. or A.C.E. and their families should be aware of several important points regarding grading and transfer of credit.
- The S.C.A.L.E. or A.C.E. student is creating an academic record here at C. W. Post.
- The grades earned for each S.C.A.L.E. or A.C.E. course are given by the high school teacher according to the table below and are recorded on the student’s C. W. Post academic record.

- Most colleges and universities have accepted our credit. Most colleges and universities accept courses in which a minimum grade of “C” has been earned. Colleges and universities do vary, however, regarding transfer credit depending on their institutional rules, the program the student wishes to enter, the number of credits the student wishes to transfer, and the courses the student wishes to transfer. It is the student’s responsibility to inquire whether particular schools and programs will accept his S.C.A.L.E. or A.C.E. credit.
- To have S.C.A.L.E. or A.C.E. grades sent to another institution, order an official transcript. Official transcripts may be ordered by visiting the Registrar’s Office in Kumble Hall on the C. W. Post Campus, by using the website (www.liu.edu/scale or www.liu.edu/ace), or by using the toll-free number (1 800 646 1858). Spring semester grades are available after July 15th.
- To qualify for the S.C.A.L.E. or A.C.E. Scholarship, a student must earn a minimum of 6 credits through S.C.A.L.E. and/or A.C.E. and must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00 (“B”) for all S.C.A.L.E. and/or A.C.E. credits.
- A student who wishes to drop a S.C.A.L.E. or an A.C.E. course must officially drop the course with C. W. Post by November 15 for fall and full-year courses and by April 15 for spring courses. The official drop is a formal process with paperwork. For further information, check the websites (www.liu.edu/scale or www.liu.edu/ace), call the S.C.A.L.E. & A.C.E. Office (516 299 2211 or 516 299 3649), or see your high school’s S.C.A.L.E. or A.C.E. coordinator. Simply telling the teacher without official follow-up, writing notes on the tuition bill, or simply not paying will not drop a student from the course for college credit. The student remains registered – earning a grade for college credit and responsible for full tuition and any accrued fees.
- Changes of grades can only be submitted to the S.C.A.L.E. and A.C.E. Director by the high school teacher or the high school principal. No changes are made for fall semester grades after February 15 and for full year and spring semester grades after July 15.
