Dropping a S.C.A.L.E. Course for College Credit
| 1. |
Dropping a course is a formal process with paperwork. Simply not attending that class, telling the teacher, or not paying tuition does not constitute a Drop. A student who does not complete the formal process by the Drop Dates – November 15 for fall semester and for full year courses, April 15 for spring semester courses - remains registered in the class - earning a grade and responsible for full tuition. The Drop Process is complete when the S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. Office has received a completed request to drop a course for college credit. After the Drop Dates, NO REFUNDS are made and NO DROPS are processed except for students who are dropping all their high school classes. |

The school must inform the S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. Office of any student’s request to drop a course for college credit. We need to make sure that everyone – school, student and family, and C.W. Post – are on the same page. The S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. Request to Drop form must be completed including the C.W. Post course and section to be dropped (e.g. POL 2 008), the date the form is completed, reason for the drop, student’s name, social security number, and signature, parent’s name and signature, the authorizing school agent’s name, signature, and title (e.g. guidance counselor, S.C.A.L.E. teacher, assistant principal, principal). |

The school may fax the S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. Request to Drop to (516 299 2211 Attention: Anne Bruschini, S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. Office). |
| 4. |
Upon receipt of the request by the Drop Date, we in the S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. Office will drop the student. A fee may be assessed for dropping a class. The student will be accountable for the Drop Fee. When the Drop has been processed, the Bursar’s Office becomes aware that the student is no longer registered in the class for college credit. |
| 5. |
All calls regarding drops should be to the S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. Office (516 299 2211). If other offices are needed, we will route the call to the appropriate office. |
| 6. |
The student will receive a confirmation of the drop in the mail from C.W. Post within approximately one to two weeks. Should the student not receive this confirmation, the student or family should call the S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. Office (516 299 2211). |
