How do I begin the Transfer Process?
Contact the C.W. Post Admissions Office at (516) 299-2900 to
request an application, or visit our website at www.liu.edu/postapp.
You can apply online or send your application to the Office of Admissions,
C.W. Post Campus, Long Island University, 720 Northern Boulevard,
Brookville, New York 11548-1300 or fax it to (516) 299-2137. If
you prefer, you may contact the Admissions Office to meet with a
transfer counselor who will guide you through the process.
When should I apply?
Its a good idea to apply as soon as you begin thinking
about the possibility of transferring to C.W. Post. That way we
will open a file for you, and will be able to keep you up-to-the-minute
on your admission status.
What are the deadlines for Transfer Applications?
Transfer applications are reviewed on a rolling basis from
September 1 until the start of classes for the fall semester and
through January 15 for the spring semester. Students are strongly
advised to apply early and, upon acceptance, confirm their attendance
by July 1 for the fall semester.
Which transcripts should I submit?
Have official transcripts from all colleges and universities
you have attended forwarded directly to the C.W. Post Admissions
Office. Students who have completed fewer than 24 college credits
will be required to submit high school transcripts and SAT/ACT scores.
How many credits will C.W. Post accept in transfer?
C.W. Post will accept a maximum of 72 credits from two-year
colleges and 96 credits from four-year colleges and universities.
The minimum grade required for a course to transfer is C-. Students
transferring directly to C.W. Post upon completion of an Associates
Degree may transfer courses in which they received D grades, provided
those courses were required for the degree. Remember, we respond
quickly within 24 to 48 hours to requests regarding how many credits
you may transfer.
When will I receive an official Transfer Evaluation?
Within two weeks of your acceptance, you will be mailed an
official transfer evaluation based on all college transcripts received
by Admissions. Preliminary, unofficial credit evaluations may be
obtained by prospective Students at any stage of the transfer
process by contacting Transfer Admissions at (516) 299-2900.
How many credits are required for a bachelors degree?
A minimum of 128 credits is required to complete most majors
at C.W. Post. Some B.F.A. programs in the School of Visual and Performing
Arts require more.
When do I find out how my transfer credits apply to my major
program?
Once you receive your official transfer evaluation, you may
contact the Academic Counseling Center (516) 299-2746 to schedule
an appointment with an academic counselor who will show you how
your credits apply to a specific major and advise you of remaining
requirements.
When do I register for classes?
You may register upon your acceptance to C.W. Post. Students
register by appointment in the Academic Counseling Center, second
floor, Kumble Hall (516) 299-2746.
