Choosing a Major
Once you've made the move to C.W. Post, you'll have to choose a major – which is no minor decision! Just tell us where you want to go and we’ll help you get there.

First, take a look around you. You’ll discover that our reputation for academic excellence encompasses a whole universe of choices. Are you interested in art, accounting, pre-medical studies or film? Do you want to become a teacher or a nutritionist or a librarian? Does criminal justice, computer programming, literature or theater interest you most? No matter where your academic or career interests lie, you'll find a program that meets your needs.

Next, look at our impressive list of majors. You can choose among more than 100 majors offered by six schools of study: Business/Professional Accountancy/Public Service, Education, Health Professions and Nursing, Information and Computer Science, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Visual and Performing Arts.

We also offer more than 50 accelerated Bachelor's/Master's programs, including our popular 5-year Bachelor's/Master's program in teacher education. These programs enable you to start working toward your Master's degree during your senior year, and to finish your advanced degree with just one additional year of study.

No matter what major you choose, you will benefit from a small student-to-faculty ratio of only 15-to-1 as well as the chance to learn from leading experts, scholars, artists, researchers and scientists.

Guidance and Help
At Post, you’ll never have to go it alone. We understand that enrolling in a new school may be confusing and overwhelming at first. Rest assured, you won't have to navigate the maze alone. Once you've enrolled at C.W. Post, you will be assigned your own dedicated academic counselor, who will offer you guidance in selecting a major if you haven't already done so. Your counselor will also help you design your program and will even register you for classes.

Financial assistance and career counselors will also escort you through the financial process, helping you find the right aid package, scholarship dollars and opportunities for internships. We offer you a lot of choices, and help you narrow them down to the best one.

We'll also do what we can to make your class schedule meet your needs. Often it's possible to complete your classes Monday-Thursday, with Fridays off. We offer classes late in the day and evenings to accommodate everyone.

Beautiful Campus Setting
At C.W. Post, you will spend your days on a private wooded, tree-lined campus located on Long Island's luxurious Gold Coast. The university has often been cited as having one of the most beautiful campuses in America, as well as one of the safest. Elegant mansions blend with state-of-the-art classroom buildings, an ultra-modern sports facility, a major research library, high-speed wireless connections, computer laboratories and art studios. It's a perfect setting for study and for student life.

Over 25?
Students over age 25 can receive special help from the Office of Adult Student Services. You'll be advised from pre-admission through your entire program. Special orientation programs, return-to-learning workshops and seminars help ease the transition to school, and then to a fulfilling career.

Time for Fun
College requires a lot of hard work and dedication. But you’ll still be able to squeeze some fun in between homework and career planning.

YES! The college experience is much more than classes, hitting the books, writing term papers and finishing projects. C.W. Post offers students a rich and exciting campus life, with more than 100 clubs and organizations, athletic teams, sororities and fraternities. Every day, several events -- including games, concerts, dances, and lectures -- are scheduled.

The college's $18.5 million Pratt Recreation Center is home to everything from high-action basketball games to competitive swim meets to aerobics classes. You can play racquetball, jog on an indoor track, or cheer on one of C.W. Post's 15 NCAA teams.

Tilles Center for the Performing Arts showcases top talent. Our active theatre, film, music, dance and art students make sure that cultural programming abounds on campus.

And of course, the Long Island Rail Road gets students to New York City in just 50 minutes. There, you can go watch the Yankees hit home runs, see the stars shine on Broadway, admire art in SoHo, or enjoy one of the dozens of museums that are scattered around the city.
