Accountancy
Today, more employment opportunities are available for Certified Public Accountants than ever before. The M.S. in Accountancy prepares you to take the CPA licensure exam and for careers in public accounting or in industry. The program is registered with the New York State Education Department and qualifies students for a one-year reduction of the experience requirement for the CPA licensure.

You can refer to the C.W. Post Graduate Bulletin for more information on required prerequisites for this program. If you find you have not taken all of the prerequisite courses listed, you will be required to successfully complete them before registering for the graduate-level degree.

Accelerated B.S./M.S. - Accountancy
The Accelerated B.S./M.S. in Accountancy offers you the opportunity to complete both the undergraduate and graduate accounting degrees in just 5 years of full-time study. You enter as a freshman in the undergraduate program. To complete both degrees in the 5 year period you choose the accelerated track in your senior year and complete 6 credits of graduate level coursework, which is then applied to your graduate degree, reducing the remaining number of credits required to 24. This program meets the 150-hour requirements of the New York State Education Department and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. As with the M.S. in Accountancy, this program qualifies toward a one-year reduction of the work experience requirement for CPA licensure.

Taxation
The M.S. in Taxation emphasizes tax planning, research and Internal Revenue Service practice and procedures, preparing you for a wide range of career options in both the private and public sectors. Whether you are a recent graduate thinking about pursuing a career in this field, or a seasoned professional interested in career advancement or change, this degree provides the comprehensive curriculum you will need to succeed as a tax professional.

The program consists of a minimum of 30 credits of coursework; 18 credits in required core courses and 12 credits in specialized elective courses.

A four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, including six credits of accounting and 3 credits each of taxation and business law, is generally required for acceptance into the program. If you lack these prerequisites you will be required to complete them prior to registering for graduate taxation courses.
