VEE Credit

The Department of Mathematics encourages students to take actuarial exams P/1 and FM before graduation. Application forms are available from the Society at http://www.soa.org. A student who passes one or both of these exams can apply to the Society of Actuaries for VEE (Validation by Educational Experience) credit. Topics for which the Society grants VEE credit are not tested on preliminary exams but are required in addition to the exams. The three subjects for which VEE credit may be obtained are listed below along with the corresponding SOA approved course at C. W. Post.

  • Economics - ECO 11,ECO 12
  • Corporate Finance - FIN 11
  • Applied Statistical Methods - MTH 568
SOA approval is pending for an undergraduate sequence that is equivalent to MTH 568. Preparation for exam P/1 should include three semesters of Calculus, one semester of Probability, and one semester of Mathematical Statistics.
