The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University is located in Brookville, New York, approximately 30 miles from Manhattan. The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, including the Psychological Services Center (PSC), is located about 5 miles off campus, in the town of Roslyn. We occupy our own building, which is located in an office complex. Our building is located one block from the Long Island Expressway and one block from a stop on the Long Island Rail Road. A university van is available for transportation to and from the C.W. Post Campus.

The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, including the Psychological Services Center, is located in a large four-story building containing faculty and student offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, and clinical facilities for individual and group assessment and psychotherapy services.

Psychological Services Center

The PSC is an independent community mental health facility whose purpose is to: (1) provide psychological services to the community; and (2) serve as a training facility for graduate students in the doctoral program. During the four-year residency, each doctoral candidate is required to complete a one-year externship at the PSC. The PSC is located in an adjacent building.

In addition to the campus library, which has large holdings in psychology books and journals, the Doctoral Program maintains its own library of books on various topics in clinical psychology. The University also provides online access to many psychology journals. These holdings can be accessed from students’ homes or from any other computer. Photocopying of journal articles and an extensive interlibrary loan system provides excellent access to journals that are not on the university’s subscription list. The University also has in place a campus-wide wireless network so that the internet may be accessed from a laptop anywhere on campus. We have a similar wireless network in our off-campus building.

Student Computer Room

Students have access to many new desktop computers with 19” flat screen monitors. We have laser printers and a scanner for students to use as well. All faculty and students offices have Cisco IP phones that will e-mail you missed phone messages. Both the department and the clinic own photocopying machines, fax machines, and laptops equipped with Power Point for presentations. Training materials include current versions of major psychological testing instruments and rating scales. The program employs two full-time secretaries/administrative assistants, one based in the program office and one based in the Psychological Services Center.

Department Mailroom/Lounge

The Doctoral Program has a conference room/classroom plus a graduate student lounge which is suitable for classes. The clinic has its own conference room/classroom, as well as child therapy area, a room designated for group treatment with a one-way mirror.

Students are provided with office space, with each office shared among two students.
