Minor in Psychology

Students wishing to minor in Psychology will complete a minimum of 21 credits in Psychology, including the following:

  • General Psychology I (PSY 1) and General Psychology II (PSY 2) or Principles of Psychology I (PSY 3) and Principles of Psychology II (PSY 4)
  • At least five additional Psychology courses, excluding Special Topics in Psychology (PSY 41)

Psychology for Childhood Education

Students in Early Childhood and Childhood Education may take their required liberal arts and sciences “concentration” (or major specifically adapted for them) in Psychology. The required courses in this program are designed to afford the student a broad understanding of human behavior. Students should speak to the chair of the Department of Psychology in determining their course of study.

Required Courses:

  • General Psychology I (PSY 1) and General Psychology II (PSY 2) or Principles of Psychology 1 (PSY 3) and Principles of Psychology II (PSY 4)

An additional 24 credits (excluding PSY 41), at least 9 of which must be from:

  • Critical Thinking (PSY 15)
  • Psychological Tests and Measurements (PSY 24)
  • Social Psychology (PSY 32)
  • Neuroscience (PSY 37)
  • Cognitive Psychology (PSY 57)
  • Historical Foundations of Contemporary Psychology (PSY 61)
  • Learning and Memory (PSY 62)
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (PSY 75)
