Accelerated B.S./M.B.A. in Accountancy
Eligibility
This program is intended for students enrolled in the B.S. in Accountancy (B.S.A.) program. B.S.A. majors could complete the Accelerated B.S./M.B.A. in Accountancy program in five years. Students must meet the same standards for admission to the M.B.A. portion of the program as those students who apply from other schools, or who have already completed a bachelor’s degree at C.W. Post. That is, before taking two 600-level courses, as specified below, the student must meet the GPA and GMAT index requirements, including a minimum GMAT of 400.
Policies and Procedures
B.S.A. majors would follow the policies and procedures outlined below.
- Through completion of the undergraduate business courses (with a B or better in each relevant course), students may waive out of the 500-level M.B.A. core courses.
- In the senior year, students would take two 600-level M.B.A. courses, reducing M.B.A. course requirements to 30 additional credits upon satisfaction of undergraduate requirements (for a total of 36 credits in graduate courses).
- These two courses (6 credits) will be jointly applied to undergraduate and graduate courses of study.
- These two courses will be taken in place of MIS 20 and QAS 19.
- Students must earn at least a B- in the two 600-level courses for them to count toward the dual degree.
- Students may declare the Accelerated B.S./M.B.A. in Accountancy option at any time (for example, as early as at the time of admission to C.W. Post as a freshman).
- Students must take the GMAT and formally apply for admission to the M.B.A. portion of the program prior to the semester in which they intend to take the 600-level courses as a senior. Earlier application is encouraged. Students with a minimum of 75 undergraduate credits, of which at least 33 are in accounting/business courses at C.W. Post, may apply. GMAT and GPA requirements for regular M.B.A. admission will be applied to the admit decision (provisional acceptance pending successful completion of undergraduate studies).
- Students who are unable, or unwilling, to complete the M.B.A. would be eligible to apply for the B.S. degree at any time after successful completion of their undergraduate course requirements (which may include two 600-level courses).
- Students in the graduate portion of the dual degree program must take at least two graduate accounting courses (see below) as M.B.A. electives. They may take more accounting or taxation electives or may choose other M.B.A. electives.
