About the Department of Management

Dr. Baichun Xiao, Chair

The mission of the Department of Management is to equip students with contemporary art and science of management to meet their professional challenges and opportunities in the globalized 21st century. To achieve its mission, the department has built a group of well-trained faculty members in diverse disciplines including strategy, organization behavior, entrepreneurship, international management, management information systems, operations management, and management science. Faculty members are committed to high-quality teaching. Students not only acquire theoretical foundations and various skills in the classroom, they also gain first-hand business experience through lectures and seminars by renowned entrepreneurs in the metropolitan New York area. To bring newly created knowledge to the classroom, faculty members are keenly engaged in high-quality scholarly activities. Their publications have appeared in many prestigious journals. Among much academic recognition, the department is the home for the Center of Supply-Chain Leadership and Journal of IT Case and Application Research.

An unparalleled strength of the department is its global connections. The international background and experience of our faculty has empowered its vision of not only exposing our students to precious international perspectives, but also making the department known to the world. We have established academic relationships with numerous universities in China, India, UK, France, and other countries. A newly formed Chinese-American Research Center for Service and Operations Management in China marks a successful achievement for the department to promote its visibility around the world.
