J.D./M.P.A. Dual Degree Program

The J.D./M.P.A. Dual Degree Program prepares students for a variety of challenging careers in law firms, health care facilities, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, government agencies and consulting firms. The J.D. degree offered by Touro Law Center provides fundamental legal theory and emphasizes critical thinking, analysis and communication skills. The M.P.A. Degree offered by the Department of Health Care and Public Administration in the College of Management at Long Island University’s C.W. Post Campus, contributes a strong theoretical and applied grounding in the administration of health care organizations and agencies.

The program’s unique strengths include mastery of organizational processes and structures, administrative and management techniques, and policy analysis and creation. Earning the dual degree positions students for leadership roles in the rapidly changing and integrating fields of health administration and health law.

Degree Requirements
The number of credits required to obtain the dual degrees is 111, as up to 12 credits from each program can be transferred to the other. Pursuing the dual degrees, as opposed to pursuing degrees independently, offers the advantage of reducing credit requirements by up to 24 credits. Although this is a dual program, the J.D. and M.P.A. degrees are awarded separately by their degree-granting institutions upon successful completion of respective degree requirements.
