M.P.A. in Public Administration
The 48-credit M.P.A. in Public Administration prepares you
for a wide range of careers in public sector management, law, and
the administration of non-profit organizations. It also provides
opportunities for those already employed in public service to improve
their administrative skills, pursue a specific area of interest
and prepare for increasing levels of responsibility and management.
Twenty-one credits of required foundation courses include: Principles
of Public Administration; Organizational Theory and Behavior in
the Public Sector; Economic Environment and the Public Sector; Computer
Applications; Analytical Methods; Computer-based Management Systems;
and The Policy Process in Health Care and Public Administration.
The Advanced Core Curriculum (nine credits) explores various aspects
of public sector administration, including: Human Resource Administration,
Fundamentals of Budgeting and Finance and Administrative Responsibility
and the Legal Environment.
Twelve credits of electives and a thesis complete this comprehensive
course of study. Our M.P.A. degree is the only one offered on Long
Island that is accredited by the National
Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.
