Become a Spanish Teacher

B.S. in Adolescence Education: Spanish (Grades 7-12)/M.A. in Spanish
The 153-credit accelerated degree program prepares you for New York State teaching certification as a middle and high school Spanish teacher. Upon successful completion of the required courses, you will be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Adolescence Education in Spanish and the Master of Arts in Spanish in five years, a full year less than if the two degrees were pursued separately. Administered jointly by C.W. Post’s School of Education and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the program draws on the resources of one of New York’s top-rated teacher education institutions and a well established, widely acclaimed center for liberal arts education.

  • The B.S. in Adolescence Education: Spanish (Grades 7 to 12) provides an in-depth look into the theory and practice of teaching middle and high school students, using classroom instruction to foster intellectual, social and personal development. You will study the dynamics of group and individual motivations and learn to develop innovative instruction plans.

  • The M.A. in Spanish provides a comprehensive overview of Spanish literature and language. In addition to syntax and style, you will cover topics including the culture and civilization of Spain, Spanish America and the Caribbean, and will study the lives and works of the great Spanish writers and poets.
