Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Mission Statement

The Master of Arts program in Speech-Language Pathology at C.W. Post is designed to educate, through mentoring, competent, caring and qualified speech-language pathologists. Our mission is to build upon a sound theoretical foundation in the speech, language and hearing sciences in order to provide students with a comprehensive program that includes an educational and theoretical framework upon which clinical skill development is integrated. We seek to guide our students through the program by providing advisement, instruction and intellectual challenges. Our program goals are both formative and summative in accordance with standards of our professional accreditation organization, the Counsel on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Upon completion of the program our students will be prepared to function in our pluralistic society as speech-language pathologists in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and private practices servicing the needs of clients throughout the life span.
