Objective 1: Expand and enrich the quality of education in speech-language pathology
Goal 1: Increase interdepartmental initiatives
Strategies:
1. Identify university programs that lend themselves to interfacing with SLP
2. Identify and meet with faculty of identified programs to discuss potential for collaboration
3. Develop plan for collaboration
4. Initiate specified initiatives
Goal 2: Increase counseling component of academic/clinical training
Strategies:
1. Identify courses in which counseling precepts are taught
2. Develop a colloquium that reflects the counseling philosophy of the program
3. Increase frequency of use of video taping for clinical raining and supervisory purposes
4. Revise a rating scale of counseling skills to be demonstrated by students during their in-house clinical training

Objective 2: Improve verification procedures for knowledge and skill acquisition
Goal 1: Require students to assemble portfolios of relevant academic and clinical artifacts
Strategies:
1. Faculty will identify class projects that reflect knowledge and skill mastery
2. Faculty will specify the ASHA standard associated with the knowledge or skill demonstrated by the work
3. Students will compile designated work into a portfolio
4. A formalized “checkout” policy and procedure will be developed for portfolio assessment and completion of the KASA form
Goal 2: Computerize site summary and master summery sheets of clinical hours
Strategies:
1. Identify software programs that will meet our needs
2. Purchase or develop a software program and install
3. Pilot use of program
4. Fully implement program
Goal 3: Improve return of alumni questionnaires
Strategies:
1. Insure accuracy of email addresses at the exit interview
2. Develop an on-line survey
