specialists and administrators is well known throughout the northeast.
Our award-winning School of Education offers one of the widest ranges
of teacher education, counseling and administration programs in
New York State.
PROGRESSIVE CURRICULUM
The School of Education is at the forefront of contemporary educational
initiatives and trends, and continually integrates new instructional
techniques into the curricula to reflect the dynamic and ever-changing
character of urban and suburban life. In addition, our outstanding
programs have been revamped to meet the newly established New York
State requirements for teaching and certification.
DIVERSE PROGRAMS
School of Education students choose from more than 90 bachelor's,
master's, dual degree and certificate programs that focus on
various stages of a child's development: infancy, pre-school,
elementary school, middle school and high school. The School also
offers professional programs in: special education; autism; literacy;
educational technology; physical education; health education; communication
sciences and disorders; counseling and development; and school district
administration. Our specialized education courses are taught by
dedicated faculty who are active professionals in their fields.
CAREER PREPARATION
Field-based experiences bring our students face-to-face with the
realities of the classroom, the school and the community. Our programs
involve strong partnerships with local public and private schools
as well as family counseling and therapy clinics, drug and alcohol
rehabilitation centers, day care centers, and facilities for the
mentally handicapped, and hearing and speech impaired. The campus
is home to several clinical laboratories, an on-site interactive
technologies and distance learning center, a reading clinic, a child
care center, and a fully accredited speech and hearing lab.
