| Application to the Radiologic Technology Program is a two-step
process.
The first step is acceptance to the C.W. Post Campus of Long
Island University. A formal application must be made to the
Admissions Committee of the C.W. Post Campus. Information regarding
application to the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University

The second step requires a formal application to the Radiologic
Technology Program. Upon acceptance to the C.W. Post Campus
of Long Island University, interested students may obtain
an application packet for the Radiologic Technology Program
by calling (516) 299-3075.
Students enter the professional portion of the program in
the fall semester of their junior year. Freshmen and transfer
students desiring to enter the program must have completed
approximately 64 academic credits of liberal arts and sciences
course work to be eligible for entrance to the Radiologic
Technology Program. Students are advised to contact the program
office beginning in the month of January prior to the fall
semester in which they wish to enter.
The program's admission procedure includes a separate application
form, letters of reference, a personal statement, an entrance
examination and an interview with members of the Radiologic
Technology Admissions Committee. The Radiologic Technology Admissions
Committee will make the final selections of candidates who are
admitted into the program.
Admission to the Radiologic Technology Program is highly
competitive. It is recommended that interested students will
have achieved a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 with
a demonstrable interest in science and health.
Medical Imaging Professionals
Credentialed professionals who are graduates of hospital-based
programs or college-based programs approved by the Joint Review
Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) may
be admitted to the program by applying to the C.W. Post Campus
of Long Island University and the Radiologic Technology Program.
Graduates of Hospital-Based Radiography Programs
A maximum of 50 life experience credits may be granted depending
upon the hospital school transcript and the extent of competency-based
clinical experience achieved. The 50 credits will be evaluated
after a matriculated student completes 6 earned credits on
campus and makes formal application to the Coordinator of
Life Experience.
The student must also complete a radiography aptitude examination
through the Radiologic Technology Program before Life Experience
Credits are granted.
To be eligible to apply for Life Experience Credits, the
student must have acquired a New York State license to practice
radiography and have satisfactory passed the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination in Radiography.
A copy of the New York State License and American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists Certificate must be submitted
to the Director of the Radiologic Technology Program.
Graduates of College-Based Radiography Programs
Graduates of two year college-based programs approved by the
Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology
may also be admitted to the bachelor of science program.
To be eligible, the student must be registered with the
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed
to practice in New York State. A copy of the New York State
License and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Certificate must be submitted to the Director of the Radiologic
Technology Program. A maximum of 64 transfer credits may be
granted with the approval of the Academic Standing Committee
and the Evaluation Committee.
Hospital-Based and College-Based Program Graduates
Two year hospital-based or college-based program graduates
must complete nine credits of Radiologic Technology courses
at the C.W. Post Campus. All students must complete the final
32 graded credits of their degree in residence at the C.W.
Post Campus. Credentialed professionals wishing to pursue
a baccalaureate education may receive additional information
