Dr. Robert Manheimer serves as dean of the School of Education and associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Administration at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, NY.

Dr. Manheimer oversees one of the most recognizable schools of education in the northeast. The C.W. Post School of Education, which is affiliated with over 80 school districts in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Westchester counties, offers more than 90 bachelor's, master's, dual degree and certificate programs that focus on various stages of a child's development: infancy, pre-school, elementary school, middle school and high school. The School also offers professional programs in special education; autism; literacy; educational technology; physical education; health education; higher education communication sciences and disorders; counseling and development; and school district administration.

Dr. Manheimer began his extensive educational career as a science teacher in Brooklyn, rising in the administrative ranks to assistant principal of the high school and Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools in the Syosset School District. He spent 15 years at the Jericho School District, one of the most prestigious in the United States, as the superintendent of schools. He taught as an adjunct professor at the New York Institute of Technology and C.W. Post College.

He first joined the faculty as an adjunct in the C.W. Post Department of Educational Leadership and Administration (DELA) in 1980 and established himself as a gifted instructor at the collegiate level. In 1995, he was appointed to a full-time position in DELA and subsequently became its Chair and Associate Dean within the School. He was appointed dean of the School of Education in 2002.

Dr. Manheimer holds a bachelor’s degree in science education from Brooklyn College and a master’s degree and Ed.D. from Columbia University Teacher’s College. He has taken graduate courses in educational administration at New York University and has won numerous awards and citations from groups such as the United States Senate, the New York State Assembly, the New York State Senate as well as President Bill Clinton, and the Governor’s Office of New York.

Dr. Manheimer is a panel member for disciplinary hearings for the New York State Education Department, is an appointed peer reviewer for RATE, Regents Accreditation for Teacher Education, the New York State Accreditation Process and is a hearing officer for Student Disciplinary Proceedings. He is an editor of Long Island Education Review. He is currently writing a book on Futures Forecasting in Education.  He belongs to a number of professional organizations, including the American Association of School Administrators, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Educational Research Association and the Association of Supervisors and Curriculum. In 2007, he received the Outstanding Educator Award from the Childcare Council of Suffolk.

Complimenting his educational background, Dr. Manheimer has designed educational toys for Creative Play Things, was a research associate in Biochemistry at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, was affiliated with the Medial Examiners Office in New York City, served as a consultant for software design for student management and was in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He also was the director of an educational foundation and served on the Executive Board of the U.S. People for the United Nations as well as being affiliated with an anti-creationist society.
