Financial Markets Center

The Financial Markets Center, part of C.W. Post's College of Management, gives students hands-on experience in Wall Street-type research and trading. The Financial Markets Center mimics the real life investing and money management situations that students may encounter in their professional lives. Students participate in a program through which they are responsible for all aspects of money management for a hypothetical portfolio, from fund inception to continuous management to accountability. Students have access to real-time information on current market conditions. They choose from an assortment of investment options, and place orders for the purchase and sale of securities. Continuous benchmarking is noted, as students are required to account for their relative performance. Used as part of a curriculum for finance students, this establishes an applied link to the theoretical courses already being taught. The Center also provides students with the opportunity for meaningful extracurricular work that is beneficial as they seek future employment.
