The Wellstone Fellowship for Social Justice aims to advance social justice through health care advocacy by focusing on the unique challenges facing communities of color. Through this fellowship, established to honor the memory of the late Senator Paul D. Wellstone, Families USA hopes to expand the pool of talented social justice advocates from underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups. The ideal candidate must demonstrate an interest in health care policy and racial/ethnic health disparities. Additionally, we are looking for an individual who displays the potential to contribute to social justice work after their year of hands-on experience as a fellow. The Villers Fellowship for Health Care Justice was created in 2005 by Philippe Villers, Founder and President of Families USA.  Position Description & Responsibilities: The Director of Career Services is responsible for the leadership and effective implementation of a comprehensive career services center serving undergraduates, graduate students and alumni. The director will provide vision, program development, and professional placements. The director will also be an integral part of the LIU Plan, a comprehensive student service department with the goals of student retention and graduation. Essential duties: 1) develop job, internship, and cooperative education opportunities through employer outreach and working with key departments on campus. 2) Develop assessments for measuring departmental activities and successes related to office/program use and student retention/graduation rates. 3) Supervision, evaluation, and development of career services and staff and 4) managements of day-to-day operations of the career office and administration of budget.

Qualifications: Masters degree in Education/Business or related field, minimum of four years experience with a proven track record of successful career program development and managerial responsibilities in a college/university career office. Ability to conduct job development efforts, knowledge of computer applications related to career development and job search strategies. Bilingual Sexual Health Educator

Position Description:  Planned Parenthood of Nassau County (PPNC) is seeking a bilingual educator to develop and implement quality learning programs related to sexual health and sexuality.  Available:  January 2007
Background:  PPNC’s educators provide education and professional training for a variety of populations at venues throughout Nassau County, including public schools, colleges and universities, churches, and community-based organizations. Workshops address a broad range of topics including self-esteem, puberty, parent-child communications, date rape, and HIV/AIDS, to name a few. Last year, PPNC’s educators taught more than 25,000 teens, parents, teachers and other professionals. Educators strive to ensure that sexuality is understood as an essential, lifelong aspect of being human, and that it is celebrated with respect, openness and mutuality.

Primary Responsibilities:  PPNC’s new educator will focus on expanding educational programs in Nassau County colleges and universities, and within the Latino community. The successful candidate will develop materials for workshops and training sessions, schedule and present programs, implement strategies to increase program visibility and evaluate program results. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing cooperative working relationships with agencies, schools and community groups to ensure that our targeted populations have the information they need to make healthy decisions. 

Qualifications:  Minimum of BA or BS degree in Health Education, Human Sexuality, Social Sciences or a related field; MA preferred.  Minimum of one year experience working in sexual health education, community education or a related field. Experience working with diverse populations is also desired.  The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Evening work is a must and some weekends may be required. Knowledge of human sexuality and reproductive health, a familiarity with local community-based organizations, and a commitment to PPNC’s mission are also required. Fluency in Spanish/English is a must. Travel throughout Nassau County is required, as is a valid driver’s license and one’s own car.

Bilingual Sexual Health Educator - Planned Parenthood
Position Description:  Planned Parenthood of Nassau County (PPNC) is seeking a bilingual educator to develop and implement quality learning programs related to sexual health and sexuality.  Available:  January 2007
Background:  PPNC’s educators provide education and professional training for a variety of populations at venues throughout Nassau County, including public schools, colleges and universities, churches, and community-based organizations. Workshops address a broad range of topics including self-esteem, puberty, parent-child communications, date rape, and HIV/AIDS, to name a few. Last year, PPNC’s educators taught more than 25,000 teens, parents, teachers and other professionals. Educators strive to ensure that sexuality is understood as an essential, lifelong aspect of being human, and that it is celebrated with respect, openness and mutuality.
Primary Responsibilities:  PPNC’s new educator will focus on expanding educational programs in Nassau County colleges and universities, and within the Latino community. The successful candidate will develop materials for workshops and training sessions, schedule and present programs, implement strategies to increase program visibility and evaluate program results. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing cooperative working relationships with agencies, schools and community groups to ensure that our targeted populations have the information they need to make healthy decisions. 
Qualifications:  Minimum of BA or BS degree in Health Education, Human Sexuality, Social Sciences or a related field; MA preferred.  Minimum of one year experience working in sexual health education, community education or a related field. Experience working with diverse populations is also desired.  The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Evening work is a must and some weekends may be required. Knowledge of human sexuality and reproductive health, a familiarity with local community-based organizations, and a commitment to PPNC’s mission are also required. Fluency in Spanish/English is a must. Travel throughout Nassau County is required, as is a valid driver’s license and one’s own car.

Position Description & Responsibilities: The Morgan Library & Museum is reopening its search to fill the position of Gordon Ray Cataloger in the department of Collection Information Systems. The Gordon Ray collection of printed books, manuscripts and letters, and graphic materials, has particular strengths in English and French literature and book illustration. The Gordon Ray Cataloger creates new records and/or upgrades existing records for books, manuscripts and letters, and graphic material in the collection; assigns accession numbers; performs bibliographic record revision and database maintenance; and undertakes authority work as needed.

Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS and a minimum of 3 years professional experience working as a cataloger, preferably of special collections. Liberal arts background required; background in English literature preferred. Working knowledge of the MARC format and AACR2; experience with other relevant cataloging standards is preferred. of satisfactory, full-time  progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience requiring  independent decision-making concerning program management or planning,  allocation for resources and the scheduling and assignment of work, 18 months  of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or  supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision  of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate  difficulty; or
2. An Associate degree or 60 semester credits from an  accredited
college and five (5) years of satisfactory, full-time  progressively
responsible experience as described in (1) above, 18 months of  which
must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive  or
supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in  the
supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of  more
than moderate difficulty; or
3. A four-year High School diploma  or its educational equivalent and

Seeks strategic opportunities to advise on records and information requirements in workflow, systems, and policy development and implementation; creates and markets records policies, procedures, and documentation for target audiences. Identifies records and information risks and concerns and strategizes with a variety of partners and experts to resolve them. Participates in the Countway Medical Library education and outreach program, collaborating with internal and external units to create and present programs and information to records creators. Collaborates with archives and manuscripts staff to set and execute acquisitions goals, policies, and practices for the Center for the History of Medicine. Analyzes and appraises records. Works with School administrators, faculty and staff to provide direct assistance and promote a record keeping culture. 
Qualifications: MLS degree from an ALA-accredited library program and/or a MA degree in archives, information science, history or the history and sociology of science; 2 years professional experience, preferably in an academic institution, working in an archives or records management program; superior writing, presentation, and communication skills; strong computer and database abilities; demonstrated appraisal and analysis skills; familiarity with business process analysis, markup languages, and electronic records management; ability to build partnerships with diverse HMS community members; client-service and collaborative orientation; strong attention to detail. At times may work in basements, attics, warehouses and other records storage areas that may be dusty or moldy. Must be able to regularly lift 50 lb. records storage boxes.

Position Description & Responsibilities:  The Head of Special Collections is responsible for providing the UMDNJ academic, clinical, and research community and others engaged in medical history and archival research with scholarly support.  The Head of Special Collections acquires, preserves, and retrieves rare and current medical history books, University Archives materials, New Jersey Medical History Manuscript collections, Photo archives, and other historical resources.  S/he provides scholarly reference support to users of Special Collections and the University Archives.  Planning and execution of major exhibits for the Smith Library gallery space, mini exhibits to travel to UMDNJ campus libraries for display, and special public service programs, both extramural and intramural is another vital focus of the position.  The Head of Special Collections promotes and publicizes the historical and archival resources of the Libraries to UMDNJ faculty, staff, and students, as well as researchers in medical history, by writing, speaking, and participating in university-based and external professional organizations.  The Head of Special Collections and Archives maintains a strong working relationship with the Medical History Society of New Jersey. Associate Director, Internship Program

It is an annual position and thirty five hours a week.  You will manage the daily operation of an internship program serving undergraduate and graduate students at Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses. Position Description & Responsibilities: The two-year training program is broken into two phases.  The first year will be spent as a Trainee.  The main focus of the first year will be to study and pass the Series 7 and 66 exams to transition into the full Stockbroker responsibilities where the responsibilities will include generating leads of prospective qualified investors, learning about the markets and keeping abreast of financial news for the participation in biweekly training meetings, providing support for the rest of the group, and generally learning how to manage assets for high net worth clients.  Throughout this first phase, the Trainee will work one-on-one with Managing Directors of the firm who will teach them all the aspects of the business
The second year of the program the Trainee will transition into the role of Stockbroker.  As such, he/she will be responsible for the development, and maintenance of clients’ assets.  Throughout the process, the Trainee will continue to have the full support of top Management at the firm, who will help open new accounts, develop and raise assets, trade, and place clients in a variety of proprietary private equity and commercial real estate deals.  By the end of the second year, the Trainee will have learned every facet of the asset management business, and will be on track for a very successful and rewarding career.

The Thomas J. Qualifications: M.L.S. from ALA-accredited library school. An additional master¹s degree or a doctorate is required for appointment as an Assistant Professor. The college is seeking individuals with organizational and supervisory skills. Broad technical services background or desire to learn this area of librarianship, strong service orientation and good analytic and problem-solving skills are desirable. An understanding of operations and concepts of academic library technical services and library automation is essential.
Familiarity with library systems and computer hardware, software, and networks dedicated to library functions is desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are advantageous.  Ability to meet the responsibilities and requirements of a tenure-track appointment, including research, publishing, and involvement in professional organizations.
