The Wellstone Fellowship for Social Justice aims to advance social justice through health care advocacy by focusing on the unique challenges facing communities of color. Through this fellowship, established to honor the memory of the late Senator Paul D. Wellstone, Families USA hopes to expand the pool of talented social justice advocates from underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups. The ideal candidate must demonstrate an interest in health care policy and racial/ethnic health disparities. The Villers Fellowship for Health Care Justice was created in 2005 by Philippe Villers, Founder and President of Families USA. Both fellowships are year-long, full-time, salaried positions in Families USA's office in Washington, DC. Position Description:  The Academic Budget and Workload Assistant will support the Academic Budget Officer and the Director of Academic Workload in the Office of Academic Affairs.    Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with maintaining the Office of Academic Affair’s faculty database, preparing budgetary schedules, logging and reviewing expenses, monitoring faculty loads and embracive contracts, tracking released time, and compiling special course fees.  The Assistant will also prepare student credit ratio reports, faculty coverage ratios, and program cost analysis reports.  The Assistant will report to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Economic Empowerment Specialist
Position Description & Responsibilities:    Oversee all aspects of the housing and economic self-sufficiency component of the Domestic Violence Project.  This staff person will ensure that all of the project’s goals are met, provide case management, counseling, and advocacy to immigrant domestic violence survivors with a focus on economic self-sufficiency, and develop relationships with citywide networks and resources that are addressing the needs of domestic violence victims.  The Economic Empowerment Specialist will serve as the link to partner agencies and respond to external inquiries about the program and requests for technical assistance.  The Specialist will work closely with other members of the Domestic Violence Program and other NMIC staff to coordinate case services.

Background:  PPNC’s educators provide education and professional training for a variety of populations at venues throughout Nassau County, including public schools, colleges and universities, churches, and community-based organizations. Workshops address a broad range of topics including self-esteem, puberty, parent-child communications, date rape, and HIV/AIDS, to name a few. Primary Responsibilities:  PPNC’s new educator will focus on expanding educational programs in Nassau County colleges and universities, and within the Latino community. Position Description & Responsibilities: Position entails records, retention, inventory, storage, preservation, access and information technology.
