3: The One About Jobs in Education |
March
2, 2005
|
We
provided an update on searching for jobs in education
(primarily for the candidate on Long Island) and
invited Dr. Mara Bollettieri, Executive Director
of Human Resources from the Harborfields
Central School District on Long Island, NY to
give tips on navigating the education job search
successfully. She also provided tips on educational
and student teaching/internship preparation and
interviewing tips. Gina Menalaos, a teacher in a
New
York City school district talked about her positive
experience in NYC, and Lanah Lherrison-Johnson of
the PEP
office added her 2 cents on the value of internships
in addition to the student teaching and internships
required while earning a degree.
|
We're
also having tons of fun with our other segments and
bits like:
I Love This Job
-
a job is highlighted
off of the PEP
Job Bulletin to help educate you on job titles and
how your interests and skills fit into the world.
Worst Jobs in History
- think your
job is bad? Hear about historic jobs that really put
your doozie into perspective (information from Worst
Jobs In History: The Most Unenviable Jobs Of The Last
Two Thousand Years by Tony Robinson)
Weekly Trivia
- call us
with the answer to a trivia question about movies, songs,
or pop culture related to work.
Gus, the
Career Fairy
- popping
in every once in a while to help you poor souls with
career ideas.
And
much more... including
so you wanna job. . .
Theater,
this week.
The
March 9th show will be about all about
interviewing! We'll
have a former college recruiter from Saks 5th Avenue
join us, as well as, a personal shopper from Nordstroms
who will talk to us about dressing for success.
Hope
to have you listening!
P.S.
-- this is us:
