Listen to the archives and hear what happens when the lack of theme music throws our hosts off in the beginning of the show (especially when one doesn't follow the script)... Oy!
The field of Healthcare Administration is a competitive field that has a lot of rewards and attracts individuals who want to be in leadership positions in various healthcare facilities. Our first guest Ken Brown, President and CEO of the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jamaica, NY, provided us with excellent information about the field from his 35 years as an administrator.
Angela Meisse, Director of the Clinical Lab Sciences Program at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, and Janis Marullo, Assistant to the Dean of the School of Health Professions at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, pre-taped and inteview with us. Angela discussed with us the jobs under the heading of Clinical Lab Sciences, a field that has a large shortage of workers and that is growing because of changes in technology and the world situation. New York State has also passed a bill to license clinical laboratory technologists with adds credibility and higher standards of training and practice to clinical lab technologists. Janis talked about the changing and growing field of Health Information Management -- a field to become much more important due to a federal push to mandate computerized medical records (something that we reported on last season).
Finally, we had a visit from Alex Kulawsky, Cooperative Education Coordinator for the Sciences in Professional Experience and Career Planning at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, who spoke to us about cooperative education oportunities at C.W. Post.
Thanks to our guests:
