C.W. Post Offers Low-Cost Speech and Hearing Services
to Children and Adults, including Stroke Patients

June 19, 2001 - Stroke victims on Long Island have an exceptional resource at their disposal: low cost speech and hearing services including evaluations and therapy. The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University is a training center for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists through its School of Education Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. In addition to addressing the communications problems of individuals who have had a stroke, the center also treats adults and children with other speech and hearing problems including hearing loss, cognitive communication disorders, phonological delay or disorders, stuttering and language learning disabilities.

The J.M. Ladge Communication Sciences and Disorders Center on the C.W. Post Campus offers these services at cost - approximately one-third of the customary clinical fees - and has day and evening hours year-round. In addition, there are significant discounts for students and senior citizens. Services are provided by students in clinical training, and every student is supervised by a clinical faculty speech-language pathologist or audiologist, each of whom is certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the State of New York.
