| July 17, 2002 -- While some children go to the beach or pool during
the summer, others pursue enrichment activities at the C.W. Post Campus
of Long Island University. Every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon, youngsters
in grades K 7 gather to learn Spanish or Italian or participate
in "The Reading Corner," a program through which children
explore a variety of literary styles and enjoy oral storytelling and
dramatic reenactments.
Many experts believe that the ideal time for learning a second
or third language is before the age of 12, and it has been demonstrated
that immersion in reading is the key to successful lifelong learning.
Children in these enrichment programs will come away with more than
just a good time; they will gain skills that will enrich their lives
for years to come.
These and other programs are offered by the Division of Continuing
Education at the C.W. Post Campus. The campus is located at 720
Northern Blvd. (Route 25A) in Brookville. For additional about programs,
