Post Theatre Company
Opens New Season in October
The 2003-2004 season for the Post Theatre Company
will begin in October with a variety of plays, forums and performances
featuring students and faculty from the C.W. Post Campus of Long
Island University in Brookville.
Post Theatre Company, the not-for-profit resident
theatre company of the Department of Theatre, Film and Dance of
the C.W. Post Campus, provides theatre students with both traditional
and non-traditional performance opportunities. The company is committed
to creating new works, producing the classics, and broadening and
deepening the production experience for students studying theatre
arts. The company tours internationally and recent productions have
traveled to Canada, Scotland, Greece and Cyprus.
Post Theatre Company has won national and international
recognition. In 1997 Post Theatre Company was invited to perform
its production of The Skriker at the National Kennedy Center American
College Theatre Festival. The theatre company has also received
numerous regional and national awards in the areas of direction,
design, ensemble acting and playwriting.
Post Theatre Company has two major independent
purposes: to provide students with a production laboratory which
approaches as closely as possible the conditions of a working professional
theatre, and to offer to audiences excellent live theatre. Training
in the Theatre Program is intense, demanding, rigorous, and at the
top of its field. Graduates are strong theatre artists who can meet
the challenges of this rapidly changing and multi-faceted field.
The Post Theatre Company is staffed by professional working artists
as well as invited guest artists, all of whom work closely with
the students.
The following productions are scheduled for
the 2003-2004 season. Most productions are $10 general admission
and $5 for students and seniors. All ticket revenue goes to a scholarship
fund for theatre students at C.W. Post. Please note, seating arrangements
vary and audience members may be required to climb stairs to enter
the theatre. For additional information, contact the Post Theatre
Company Box Office at 516-299-2356.
