C.W. Post Honors Developer Daniel R. Tishman with Zeckendorf Award
Annual Event Raises Funds to Benefit Student Scholarships

October 15, 2003 - Daniel R. Tishman, chairman and chief executive officer of Tishman Construction, Interiors & Technologies Corporation, and executive vice president of Tishman Realty Corporation, will be honored at the sixth annual William Zeckendorf, Sr. Benefit on Tuesday, November 4 at The Westin New York at Times Square in New York City.

The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, N.Y. bestows the award annually on someone who embodies the values of entrepreneurship and achievement exemplified by the late William Zeckendorf, Sr., a developer, real estate planner and long-time member of the Long Island University Board of Trustees. He was instrumental in securing the purchase of the Marjorie Merriweather Post estate, which is now the C.W. Post Campus.

Tishman has a broad background in real estate development, planning, design and construction, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and energy conservation. Over the last century, Tishman Construction and its related entities have grown to become one of the nation’s largest and most active builders. Tishman directs the companies’ activities and operations across the United States, in Europe, and in the Caribbean. The original Tishman organization – Tishman Realty & Construction Co., Inc. – was founded by Tishman’s great-grandfather, Julius, in 1898 and has been developing and building in New York and across the country ever since. As construction manager, Tishman was personally in charge of building the Conde Nast Headquarters at 4 Times Square, the Reuters/Instinet headquarters at 3 Times Square for co-developers Reuters and the Rudin family, the LVMH Tower on 57th Street for Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, and 745 Seventh Avenue for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Rockefeller Group Development Corporation.

Tishman’s diverse roster of projects currently includes construction for the new 7 World Trade Center for Silverstein Properties, preconstruction for Lincoln Center’s re-development, and construction of the Alvin Ailey Center for Dance.
