C.W. Post Honors Developer Daniel
R. Tishman with Zeckendorf Award
Annual Event Raises Funds to Benefit Student Scholarships
October
15, 2003 - Daniel R. Tishman, chairman and chief executive officer
of Tishman Construction, Interiors & Technologies Corporation,
and executive vice president of Tishman Realty Corporation, will
be honored at the sixth annual William Zeckendorf, Sr. Benefit on
Tuesday, November 4 at The Westin New York at Times Square in New
York City.
The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in
Brookville, N.Y. bestows the award annually on someone who embodies
the values of entrepreneurship and achievement exemplified by the
late William Zeckendorf, Sr., a developer, real estate planner and
long-time member of the Long Island University Board of Trustees.
He was instrumental in securing the purchase of the Marjorie Merriweather
Post estate, which is now the C.W. Post Campus.
Tishman has a broad background in real estate development,
planning, design and construction, with a strong emphasis on environmental
sustainability and energy conservation. Over the last century, Tishman
Construction and its related entities have grown to become one of
the nations largest and most active builders. Tishman directs
the companies activities and operations across the United
States, in Europe, and in the Caribbean. The original Tishman organization
Tishman Realty & Construction Co., Inc. was founded
by Tishmans great-grandfather, Julius, in 1898 and has been
developing and building in New York and across the country ever
since. As construction manager, Tishman was personally in charge
of building the Conde Nast Headquarters at 4 Times Square, the Reuters/Instinet
headquarters at 3 Times Square for co-developers Reuters and the
Rudin family, the LVMH Tower on 57th Street for Moet Hennessy Louis
Vuitton, and 745 Seventh Avenue for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and
Rockefeller Group Development Corporation.
Tishmans diverse roster of projects currently
includes construction for the new 7 World Trade Center for Silverstein
Properties, preconstruction for Lincoln Centers re-development,
and construction of the Alvin Ailey Center for Dance.
The annual Zeckendorf awards dinner helps to raise
money for C.W. Post student scholarships. Tickets cost $750 per
