C.W. Post Paralegal Program Earns
Prestigious ABA Reapproval
Brookville, NY - The Paralegal Program offered by
the Legal Studies Institute, part of the Department of Continuing
Education & Professional Studies at the C.W. Post Campus of
Long Island University, has been awarded reapproval by the American
Bar Association (ABA).
"The reapproval by the ABA is a testament to
the continued high quality of our program," said Joan Viesta,
Director of Legal and Health Studies for the Department of Continuing
Education & Professional Studies. In order to be granted reapproval,
the program had to meet stringent, nationally recognized guidelines.
A team from the ABA Commission on Legal Assistants visited the campus
to conduct a thorough review of the program. "Our curriculum
provides students with the legal skills needed to effectively assist
attorneys and secure employment," Viesta said.
The Paralegal Studies Program combines a strong background
in legal principles with a comprehensive and practical training
in substantive areas of the law. Classes are taught by practicing
attorneys and students have access to a law library as well as personalized
internship opportunities. Classes are held during the day and evening.
The C.W. Post Department of Continuing Education and
Professional Studies (CEPS) offers day, evening and weekend programs
to adults looking for career advancement, professional training
and personal enrichment. In addition to the Legal Studies Institute,
the division is home to notable programs in Business, Computer Technology,
Virtual Studies, Financial Services, Health & Public Services,
Real Estate, and Personal Enrichment as well as the renowned Hutton
House Lecture series. CEPSs Corporate Training Program offers
customized on-site training at companies on Long Island and in the
New York metropolitan area. More than 3,000 students are currently
enrolled in certificate programs, non-credit courses, and workshops
designed to help them train for a new profession, advance in their
chosen field, or simply to fulfill a personal interest. CEPS classes
and workshops are offered at convenient times, and many courses
can be taken online.
