| January 19, 2003 - Students from eight Long Island schools will
showcase their work as part of a series of community exhibits titled,
"Standards of Excellence" sponsored by the Institute for
Arts & Culture and Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, both
based at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville.
The series of exhibits, organized by the Long Island Teachers Association,
presents a revolving exhibit of student work displayed in the Tilles
Center Patrons Lounge, where thousands of patrons have an opportunity
to view the work each month.
The student exhibit will run now through March 2 in Room W1 of
Tilles Center, C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, Northern
Blvd (Route 25A). The exhibit, which is free and open to the public,
includes works by elementary, middle and high school students.
The project is part of the Institute's mission of making the arts
an integral part of the lives of C.W. Post students, faculty and
staff, and enhancing the overall education and cultural experience
of the campus community.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for C.W. Post to come together
with the Long Island community," said Andrew Berger, Director
of Education and Outreach for Tilles Center. "Not only does
this program further the mission of the Institute for the Arts &
Culture, but it provides an outlet for young artists to showcase
their work to thousands of patrons at Tilles Center performances."
