Assignment Vincent Henry
to be Honored
for Outstanding Community Service
March 13, 2002 On Sunday, October 19, law enforcement expert
Dr. Vincent Henry will be honored at the Fifth Annual Fundraiser
of the College of Management Alumni Chapter at the C.W. Post Campus
of Long Island University in Brookville, New York.
Dr. Henry, a C.W. Post alumnus, is an associate professor of criminal
justice and sociology at Pace University. He is a retired sergeant-special
assignment from the New York City Police Department, where he served
as commanding officer of the education support section of the police
academy. While studying toward bachelors and masters
degrees in criminal justice at C.W. Post, Dr. Henry earned numerous
academic awards, honors and scholarships. He was the first police
officer in the United States to win a Fulbright Scholarship which
enabled him to study at the Centre for Australian Public Sector
Management at Griffith University in Australia. He received C.W.
Post's Outstanding Accelerated Student Award in 1987 before graduating
with a perfect 4.0 grade point average in 1989. Dr. Henry earned
a Ph.D. in criminal justice from the City University of New York
(John Jay College of Criminal Justice) in 2001, and an M.Phil. in
criminal justice from CUNY in 1996. He returned to C.W. Post in
1991, as an adjunct professor of criminal justice. He has also taught
at St. Johns University in New York. Dr. Henry is widely published
and a highly respected authority on criminal justice and has been
the featured speaker at numerous police conferences. His publications
include "The COMPSTAT Paradigm" and several forthcoming
works, including: "Death Work: Police and the Psychology of
Survival" and "Police, the World Trade Center Attacks
and the Psychology of Survival: Implications for Clinical Practice."
The event, which is designed to recognize outstanding contributors
to the C.W. Post and Long Island communities, will also support
scholarships for students pursuing degrees in accounting, business,
criminal justice, health care and public administration, and social
work in the College of Management.
Also to be honored at the C.W. Post College of Management Alumni
Chapter fundraiser are Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi and C.W.
Post alumnus Dr. M. Vicki Wacksman, founder and president of Wacksman
Associate's Ltd., a management-consulting and training firm based
in Dix Hills, NY.
The event will be held at the Harrison Conference Center in Glen
Cove, NY. Entertainment will be provided by Eric Johnson, renowned
jazz guitarist, and his group. For additional information about
