C.W. Post's Ian Smart Signs with
New York Jets

May 3, 2003 - Recent C.W. Post graduate Ian Smart
was signed to a three-year free agent contract with the New York
Jets on Saturday, May 3, 2003. Smart, a running back with
the C.W. Post Pioneer football team from 1999-2002, will compete
for a spot on the Jet's kickoff return unit.
Hailed as the "best touchdown-maker college football
has ever known," Smart finished his career as college football's
all-time leader in touchdowns (95), total points (570) and career
yards per carry (7.58). In addition, he ended his remarkable
collegiate career gaining 6,647 yards, fourth-best in college football
history.
Smart graduated in January 2003 with a bachelor's
degree in physical education from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island
University.
