New! Completely Redesigned MBA Program at C.W.
Post
Beginning in Fall 2003, students at the C.W. Post Campus of Long
Island University in Brookville will be able to earn a Master of
Business Administration (MBA) in less time and at a lower cost.
The new curriculum, recently approved by the New York State Department
of Education, reflects an intensive faculty and administration effort
to develop the very best in graduate business education. All business
programs at C.W. Post have received the elite accreditation of AACSB
International - the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate
Schools of Business.
The new curriculum reduces the number of mandatory credits from
60 to 48, and academically accomplished students with business administration
degrees may complete the MBA with as few as 36 credits. The program
responds to the needs of students pressed for time and offers new
course materials specifically geared to the demands of the ever-evolving
global economy.
Robert J. Sanator, dean of the College of Management, said, "This
new curriculum represents a significant step forward in teaching
the best of contemporary theory and managerial practice." He
added, "It will, in concert with our prestigious AACSB accreditation,
offer heightened value to students seeking to advance their professional
careers." Accreditation by AACSB International is a select
distinction shared by only those business schools in the world that
offer the highest standards of academic and teaching excellence.
Employers recognize it as the gold standard in graduate business
education, Dr. Sanator said.
The College of Management is exceptionally proud of the new curriculum
and cites its treatment of ethics as one of the many creative elements
of its new course of study. "Rather than consign ethics to
an isolated course in the overall curriculum, we have deeply and
pervasively infused ethics throughout the new program," said
MBA Program Director Salvatore F. Cordo.
"Since this vital subject touches every aspect of business,
we want to ensure that our students understand the diverse, nuanced
manifestations of ethical behavior through the many disciplines
that comprise modern business."
The MBA program offers many options so students can pursue their
degree at their own pace. They can attend classes on a full- or
part-time basis - during the week in the Campus Program, in
the Saturday Program, or in a combination of both. For the Saturday
Program, students may complete their course requirements in as few
as 14 months, and no more than 19 months, depending upon their qualifications.
Students with appropriate undergraduate business degree preparation
and superior grades can complete the program with only 36 credits.
Students who may require quantitative, communications or IT proficiencies
can acquire them by enrolling in low-cost workshops on campus (rather
than having to take full-semester full-tuition courses) and still
complete the MBA with just 48 credits.
Students can choose to specialize in one of six management disciplines
by focusing their electives in: accounting and taxation, finance,
international business, marketing, management or management information
systems.
The Colleges popular Accelerated International Program, through
which qualified students can complete their studies within one year
while studying and living in New York, London and Paris, will continue
to be a 36-credit program. The new curriculum will also be adopted
by the C.W. Post Corporate MBA Program, in which classes are offered
on-site at various corporate offices.
Students in all C.W. Post MBA Programs will continue to receive
the support of a professional MBA advisory staff, and access to
the new Michael Bivona Graduate Student Center, where Internet-enabled
work and study space fosters private study and collaborative work
on group projects. "All of our MBA Programs continue to reflect
the intimate, student-friendly environment that is a hallmark of
the College of Management," said Dr. Sanator.
