Help for Stroke Victims and Their Families

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in this country. It often causes paralysis, disorientation and difficulty leading a normal life.

To help victims of strokes regain their functional abilities, the J.M. Ladge Speech and Hearing Center at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville provides long-term personalized rehabilitation and speech therapy to the public. The center also provides emotional support to both patient and families through professional and peer involvement to better cope with the personal and social implications of acquired speech, language and hearing disorders.

This center isn’t limited to rehabilitating stroke victims, it also addresses common communication disorders in both children and adults, including hearing loss, delayed language, stuttering as well as accent reduction. The Center also serves as a training facility for graduate students completing a master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
