C.W. Posts Real Estate Institute
Announces New Fall Courses
The growth of industrial and commercial real estate,
high-rise apartments, condominiums and urban renewals require constant
study. Recognizing this, the Real Estate Practitioners Institute
at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville
has introduced three new electives as part of its Real Estate Certificate
Program.
"Introduction to Residential Real Estate
Transactions" concentrates on pre-qualification for mortgages,
binders, property conditions, legal condition of properties, and
closings. "Introduction to Commercial and Investment Real Estate:
Tools of the Trade" teaches students how to gather basic information
about different types of commercial properties and how to market
this information. "Residential Lending" reviews lending
procedures and takes a close look at the various types of mortgages
and their uses by borrowers. All three courses will be offered starting
in September in three sessions in the evening to accommodate the
schedules of working students.
"These courses were added because we wanted
to create balance and bring diversity to the curriculum for people
inside and outside of the real estate profession," said Barry
Stein, Education Chair for the Institute. "All of our classes
reflect the current climate of todays real estate market."
The Real Estate Practitioners Institute, now
in its 29th year, was founded to serve the real estate community
by providing a forum for discussion among both professionals and
novices in the industry and to offer courses of general and specific
interest. The Institutes programs have been designed for:
- People interested in changing careers or establishing
a second career as a Real Estate Salesperson, Real Estate Broker
or Real Estate Appraiser.
- Real Estate Licensees who must complete 22.5
hours of approved continuing education every two years.
- College business majors who wish to consolidate
their studies by acquiring knowledge of real estate finance and/or
preparing for a future career in real estate.
- Prospective homebuyers, present homeowners and
investors who want to increase their knowledge of the nuts and
bolts of the remodeling industry.
Licensees are required by New York State to successfully
complete 22.5 hours worth of continuing education every two years.
In addition, the Real Estate Practitioners Institute also
offers courses that not only meet New York State continuing education
requirements, but also qualify for a C.W. Post Certificate in Real
Estate. The Real Estate Practitioners Institute Board of Directors
oversees the curriculum. The Board is comprised of many prominent
individuals from the fields of real estate, banking, finance, appraising,
construction and architecture. The instructors combine an in-depth,
hands-on knowledge of the real estate profession. The result is
decades of experience in all facets of the real estate industry.
Courses combine sound real estate theory with practical skill development.
To earn the Certificate in Real Estate, students
must complete at least 75 hours of instruction offered by C.W. Post's
Continuing Education & Professional Studies Department. A certificate
can be earned in as little as two semesters.
C.W. Post also offers a 45-hour Real Estate Salesperson
course to prepare for the New York State Salesperson Exam and a
45-hour qualifying course for the New York State Real Estate Broker
exam.
The C.W. Post Campus is located at 720 Northern
Boulevard (Route 25A) in Brookville. For more information about
the program, contact the Continuing Education & Professional
