September 11 Anniversary Events at C.W. Post Campus

The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University will observe the second anniversary of September 11 with several on-campus events. Titled "Compassion and Community," the commemoration will feature music, the arts and candle-lighting.

At 12:30 p.m., "Reflections" in Hillwood Commons Lecture Hall will open with a musical selection by the C.W. Post Music Department, followed by brief reflections by C.W. Post Student Government Association President George Kurovics and others and a moment of silence. The event will close with another Musical Selection by the Music Department.

At 8:00 in the evening, students, staff and faculty will gather in the campus’s Interfaith Center Chapel for a "Candlelight Vigil." Representatives of the Catholic, Judaism, Muslim and Protestant faiths will be present for the lighting of candles and silent contemplation.

Finally, in the "Community Coffeehouse," hosted by a student musician, participants will have the opportunity to express their thoughts through various mediums of art. Refreshments will be served. The "Coffeehouse" will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the Interfaith Center living room.
