Kendall Johnson Appointed Director of Corporate Training Programs for Continuing Education and Professional Studies at C.W. Post

The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, N.Y. has appointed Kendall Johnson as Director of Corporate Training Programs for the Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) department. His extensive experience includes management positions with the Marketing and Management Institute at New York University, 1199 SEIU Employment Training and Job Security Program, and Phoenix Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

For more than eight years, Mr. Johnson has committed himself to empowering individuals and communities through education. He has worked as an adult educator at a Pennsylvania community college, as a primary and secondary school teacher in Kenya (East Africa), as an educational program coordinator in the New York public school system and as an administrator of educational programs for a large labor union and a private university. Most recently, he coordinated all Marketing, Public Relations and Investor Relations certificate program initiatives (a curriculum consisting of 125 professional courses) as Assistant Director of the Marketing and Management Institute of New York University. He holds a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.A. in Educational Administration from NYU.

As Director of Corporate Training Programs, Mr. Johnson is responsible for customizing leadership, management, basic writing, diversity, human resource management, customer service management, financial service and computer literacy programs for clients within the Long Island and New York metropolitan area. He works in close partnership with businesses to develop and deliver customized training programs tailored to their unique organizational needs and strategic goals. This partnership includes the following:

  • A General Inquiry Meeting: Johnson meets with the client to glean in-depth the information necessary for developing a training curriculum and pedagogical approach that are fully aligned with the client and that reflect sensitivity to important cultural idiosyncrasies of the client.
  • Curriculum Development and Customization: Based on the findings of the General Inquiry Meeting and with the clients’ input and approval, Johnson develops customized curriculums.

He develops Corporate Training Programs in a number of formats, including courses, seminars, professional institutes, one- or two- day workshops, keynote speaker engagements and panel discussions.

In addition to the Corporate Training Program, C.W. Post CEPS offers day, evening and weekend programs for adults seeking career advancement, professional training and personal enrichment. Topics of study include business, computer technology, distance learning, financial services, health studies, legal studies, real estate and personal enrichment as well as the well-known Hutton House Lecture series. The recently created Breakfast Series allows those currently working to earn a certificate in professional development and to network with other professionals. CEPS classes and workshops are offered at convenient times, with many courses available online, and registration conducted by phone, fax or web. Currently, more than 3,000 students are enrolled in CEPS certificate programs, non-credit courses and workshops.
