Tilles Center to Undergo Renovations

Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, New York is scheduled to begin construction of a new lobby on March 9, 2004. The renovations, which will take approximately eight months to complete, include enclosing the outdoor courtyard to create a new entryway, new lobby and atrium. The renovation also calls for an elevator to improve handicapped accessibility and a new box office, staff offices and more restrooms.

"These renovations will benefit students as events such as performances by the music, theater and dance departments, commencement and the PEP Career Fair will have more available space and handicapped accessibility will be improved," said Dr. Pamela Lennox, Associate Provost for Campus Services.

The renovations will cost $10 million and are being funded by a combination of gifts from donors and state and federal grants. No tuition money is being used to fund this project.

In March, work will begin in the Tilles Center courtyard area. The campus community will continue to have access to the auditorium and to the lecture hall in Hillwood Commons until after commencement. However, beginning in March, the box office and Tilles administration offices will be temporarily located in the office space in the Conolly Building.
