Wins International Communicator Award

March 17, 2004 Erica Soto, a senior in the Media Arts
Program at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and
Student Production Director at WCWP Radio 88.1 FM, has been
awarded the 2003 International Communicator Award for Radio
Station On-Air Promos. Her production of the Prison Break
Liner was awarded the organizations highest award,
the Crystal Award of Excellence and her production of Prison
Break Radio Promo won an honorable mention. The productions
were used to launch the first new student music format on 88.1
FM in over a decade. The Prison Break Radio format
has been in place during student FM hours (Monday through Friday,
10 p.m. to 1 a.m.) since summer 2003.
Soto, a resident of Manhattan, was presented with the Award
of Excellence on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 in the Abrams Communication
Center, home of WCWP Radio.
The Communicator Awards is an international awards program founded
by communications professionals to recognize excellence in the
communications field. The Crystal Award of Excellence is given
to those entries whose ability to communicate puts them among
the best in the field.
WCWP 88.1 FM and WebRadio WCWP are located in the Benjamin and
Elizabeth Abrams Communications Center on the C.W. Post Campus
of Long Island University in Brookville, New York. Broadcasting
24 hours a day, WCWP 88.1 is partnered with anchor station WLIU
88.3 FM in the Long Island University Public Radio Network.
