Patrizia Porrini Wins 2004 PEP
Faculty of the Year Award
Patrizia
Porrini, a resident of Whitestone, NY and assistant professor of
management at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in
Brookville, was recently honored by the campuss Professional
Experience and Career Planning (PEP) office with its 2004 Faculty
of the Year Award. This honor is bestowed annually by the PEP office
to outstanding advocates of its award-winning Cooperative Education
Program, which helps students gain work experience prior to graduating
from college.
PEP chose to honor Professor Porrini in recognition
of her dedication and service to the needs of both the university
and its students. "Professor Porrini is a strong proponent
of student participation in the PEP program and enthusiastically
supports experiential learning, hands-on career training and internship
opportunities," said Jeanette Grill, director of C.W. Posts
Professional Experience and Career Planning office. "We admire
her dedication to fostering our students educational and career
goals."
Dr. Porrini has served as a professor of management
in C.W. Posts AACSB-accredited College of Management for four
years. In May of 2003, she received the Long Island University College
of Management Recognition Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr.
Porrini currently serves as director for the Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter
of Long Island University and received the Beta Gamma Sigma Professor
of the Year Award in May 2004.
In addition to her service to the C.W. Post Campus,
Dr. Porrini takes an active role in the professional community.
She has delivered papers and chaired symposia at conferences of
the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, Eastern
Academy of Management, International Conference of Advances in Management,
Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, M&A Summit, and
the Global Conference on Business and Economics. She has served
as editorial reviewer for the Academy of Management-Business Policy
Division; Eastern Academy of Management; Journal of Business Research;
Journal of High Technology Management Research; Academy of Management;
and McGraw Hill-Irwin. Dr. Porrini has also authored articles that
have appeared in the Journal of Management, Journal of High Technology
Management Research, and the International Encyclopedia of the Social
and Behavioral Sciences. In addition, her articles have appeared
in numerous conference proceedings.
Dr. Porrinis areas of teaching, research and
professional consulting activities focus on mergers, acquisitions,
strategic alliances, high-technology organizations and firm performance.
A member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Dr. Porrini holds a Ph.D. in management
and finance from the Stern School of Business of New York University,
and M.Ph. in statistics from the Stern School of Business, and M.B.A.
in finance, management and international business from the Stern
School of Business, and a B.S. in finance, management and international
business from the Stern School of Business.
