23rd Annual C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival
featuring the Pierrot Consort and Guest Artists

July 12 through July 30, 2004

Approximately 100 musicians will gather on the C.W. Post Campus in Brookville, NY from Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 30 to hone their skills and perform on string instruments, woodwinds, brass and piano as part of the 23rd annual C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival. Participants will include young professionals, teachers, college and high school students and pre-formed chamber music groups. The three-week intensive seminar includes chamber ensembles, chamber orchestras, select ensembles for strings, woodwinds and brass, master classes, a conducting program, a concerto competition and a series of faculty and student concerts.

The C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival was co-founded by Susan Deaver and Maureen Hynes, who are members of the Pierrot Consort. The Pierrot Consort, C.W. Post’s faculty ensemble-in-residence, and guest artists provide instruction and participate in performances along with festival participants. The Festival is part of the Department of Music in the School of Visual and Performing Arts at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. Susan Deaver is the 2004 Festival Director and Maureen Hynes is the 2004 Artistic Advisor.

The C.W. Post Chamber Music festival attracts chamber musicians from across the New York Metropolitan area and the United States who wish to focus on the study and performance of the standard chamber music repertoire. Faculty and guest artists are respected performers. Participants are selected by audition during the spring and may enroll on a non-credit basis or for high school, college or graduate credits. For additional information, see the schedule of public performances (enclosed), call the C.W. Chamber Music Festival office at 516-299-2103, or visit www.liu.edu/svpa/music/festival.
