WCWP to Broadcast
7th Annual
Glen Cove Music Festival Concert
Series
June 22, 2004WCWP/88.1 FM, the radio station
of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, will be the exclusive
broadcast partner of the seventh annual Glen Cove Music Festival
Friday night concert series presented by the Glen Cove Downtown
Business Improvement District.
This year, the concert features: the multi-faceted
Marvin Floyd Band July 2; the Mike Ernst Project, who infuse a reggae
flavor to their rhythm and blues, on July 9; KJ Denhert will meld
urban folk and jazz on July 16; the Tercels entertain with 50s,
60s and 70s tunes July 23; and Sonido Clasico finishes the series
on July 30. WCWP Director of Operations Joe Manfredi will host all
the concerts.
The performances will be broadcast live from the Glen
Cove Village Square over WCWP/88.1 FM from 7 to 10 p.m. The concerts
are free and open to the public, and are performed at the Glen Cove
Village Square on the corner of Glen and School Streets in Downtown
Glen Cove. In the event of inclement weather, shows will be held
in Glen Coves City Hall. Giveaways, such as free tickets for
the Friends of the Arts and CDs will be held throughout the series.
WCWP/88.1 FM is located in the Benjamin and Elizabeth
Abrams Communications Center on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island
University in Brookville, New York. Broadcasting 24 hours a day,
it is partnered with anchor station WLIU/88.3 FM for the Long Island
University Public Radio Network. Weekdays the station broadcasts
WLIU jazz programming and National Public Radio news and information.
Weeknights, listeners can tune into student-hosted programming "Prison
Break Radio," which features a mix of hardcore, punk and metal
featuring local bands and underground artists. On Sundays WCWP/88.1
FM plays the blues with Jim OKeefe at 7 p.m. and is home of
the longest running gospel rock show in history with Chris MacIntosh,
which airs at 10 p.m.
