C.W. Post Workshop Focuses on Small Business Ownership

January 19, 2005 - Small business owners, consultants and aspiring entrepreneurs will benefit from the day-long small business workshop and conference hosted by the Continuing Education & Professional Studies Department at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University on Saturday, March 12. The "Start Your Own Business" workshop/conference will provide guidance and expert advice to people who are currently running or growing their own businesses, those who are running a business out of their homes and want to take it to the next level and people who wish to start something new.

Workshop and conference presentations include how to achieve business success, selecting the appropriate legal and/or marketing structure, developing a business plan, using computers to gain a competitive edge, and practical advice from someone who's been there.

Guest speakers will include John Marino, regional team leader for the US Small Business Administration (SBA) who will discuss how the SBA can aid entrepreneurs in securing proper financial backing. Other speakers include John Steinhoff, the business advisor for the Small Business Development Center Outreach Office at C.W. Post; Paul Montenero, principal, Clear Cut Computing; Matt Zale, President, Rock 'n Sole, DBA Fender Footwear; Richard Solomon, Esq., publisher and author, and Jack Mandel, professor and program coordinator.

Workshop and conference topics for new and current entrepreneurs range from the simple, such as networking, to the more complex such as organizational development. 

Attendees will receive a comprehensive Small Business Resource Guide that will contain all the information and handouts discussed by each speaker. The event runs all day from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Hillwood Commons. The cost is $145 and includes networking lunch.
