Health Professions Week at C.W. Post

The C.W. Post School of Health Professions and Nursing plans to observe Health Professions Week with an interesting and enjoyable morning of demonstrations in the lobby of the Life Sciences Building on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Since November is a harvest month, the mascot for the event will be an apple nicknamed “Granny Smith.” The Radiologic Technology Program will display X-Rays, a CT Scan and an MRI of “Granny.”  The program will also feature microscope slides of apple and humancells and a chemical analysis of apple cider. C.W. Post Professor Dr. Seetha Tamma will demonstrate the work of the Clinical Laboratory Science Department with an analysis of a DNA sample. The Health Information Management Department will show how information of this nature is included in patients’ medical records. The Nutrition Department will present information on health eating styles and how it affects disease management.

The School of Health Professions and Nursing is a regional leader in preparing students for many rewarding careers in crucial fields of health care, and the Health Professions Week event will serve as a fine showcase of these offerings.
