Post Theatre Company Introduces the Go Go Rifle Rangers,
the New Improv Troupe of the Post Theatre Company,
in “The Men’s Room”
Production to be directed by distinguished improvisational performer Trevor Davis
October 28, 2005 – Brookville, NY – The Post Theatre Company, the not-for-profit resident theatre company of the Department of Theatre, Film and Dance on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, will present five performances by Go Go Rifle Rangers, Post Theatre Company’s new improvisational theatre troupe. Their Fall semester production, “The Men’s Room,” will run October 28-30, November 5 and December 3. All performances take place at 8 p.m. The production will be staged in C.W. Post's Little Theatre Rifle Range.
Improvisation is a form of theatre in which no script is used. Instead, the actors create the dialogue and action as they perform, often based on suggestions from the audience. The audience members are involved in helping to shape the performance by simply offering suggestions, but their investment in the scenes that the actors create based on their ideas makes it twice as funny to watch. These talented young actors will generate fresh new material at each performance—no two shows will be the same!
Trevor Davis, director of the improv troupe, has performed long form and short form improvisation for over 10 years with such groups as ComedySportz Philadelphia, Freestyle Repertory Theatre, Middlebury Theatresports and the Pennsylvania Rennaissance Faire. He has studied with Keith Johnstone (author of Impro and Impro for Storytellers) at his Loose Moose International Improv school in Calgary, Canada, with Jeff Wirth (author of Interactive Acting), and studied physical comedy with David Shiner (Fool Moon, Cirque du Soleil). Over the past several years, he co-wrote and helped develop a script through improv on the subject of day jobs. As an actor he has worked regionally with Bristol Riverside Theatre, Shakespeare and Company, Hartford Stage Company, Delaware Theatre Company, Philadelphia Theatre Company (among others) and in New York with Woman Seeking, Overlap Productions, LITE Theatre Company and The American Studio Theatre (among others).
