C.W. Post Summer Day Camp Earns
Accreditation by American Camp Association

December 14, 2005 -The Summer Day Camp at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville has earned accreditation by the American Camp Association for meeting the highest standards for safety and programming.

The ACA New York Section awarded the accreditation this fall based on its evaluation of the C.W. Post Summer Day Camp’s site, food service, health and wellness programming, management, program design and activities and other criteria.

“Accreditation by the ACA assures the public that children and teenagers will find a fun, safe and healthy experience at our summer camp,” said Dorene Padula, director of the C.W. Post Summer Day Camp.

The ACA is the only organization that accredits all types of camps based on up to 300 national standards for health and safety that are recognized by courts of law and government regulators. ACA accreditation is a standardized, voluntary system of review with a 50-year history.

The Summer Day Camp offers swimming, arts and crafts, music, nature study, sports, dance, drama, cooking, computers and day trips for children ages 5 through 16 at C.W. Post’s 307-acre campus. Special events include Halloween in August, Camp Carnival, Talent Show, Camp Olympics, Hawaiian Luau and much more. One-week to seven-week sessions are available. Camp begins at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.
