February 24, 2005 —Auditions for the 24th annual C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University will begin on Sunday, March 20. Auditions are open to young professionals, pre-formed chamber music groups, teachers, college students, high school students and talented young students.

Auditions will be held by appointment at the C.W. Post Campus Fine Arts Center on Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) in Brookville.

The C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival, a three-week intensive session scheduled for July 11 through July 29 at C.W. Post, will feature The Pierrot Consort, the faculty ensemble-in-residence at Long Island University, and guest artists including Lawrence Dutton from the Emerson Quartet.

The Festival’s primary focus is on the study and performance of standard instrumental chamber music, including string quartets and mixed chamber ensembles. The Festival also includes a series of instrumental and performance master classes, a concerto competition, chamber orchestras, and a series of faculty and participant concerts at Hillwood Recital Hall and Tilles Center.

Approximately 120 participants will be selected for openings in all strings, woodwinds, brass and piano. In addition, a limited number of conductors will be chosen for the Festival’s conducting program.

The Festival is available on a non-credit basis or students may elect to earn undergraduate or graduate credits for participation. High school students may earn college credit through the High School Enrichment Program. The non-refundable application/audition fee is $30. Festival fees and tuition vary with scheduled participation and programs within the three-week Festival. Scholarships, fellowships and Tilles Center Scholar Awards will be available.
