C.W. Post College of Management Alumni Chapter Wine Tasting
Honors Outstanding Alumni and Supports Student Scholarships

Brookville, NY – To celebrate the personal and professional successes of three of its alumni, members of the College of Management Alumni Chapter at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University will come together for a wine tasting on Saturday, September 16 at the Hillwood Art Museum. Michael Emmerman, Class of ’67; Carol Markman, Class of ’78 and Elizabeth Sellman, Class of ’99 will be honored for their outstanding achievements in the business world and for their contributions to the greater community.

The event will take place from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Hillwood Art Museum on the C.W. Post Campus where attendees will delight in live music amid ancient and modern artwork while sampling some of the Gold Coast’s premier wines. Participating vineyards include Martha Clara, Paumanok and Pindar. Proceeds from the event will directly fund student scholarships.

About the Honorees:

As an executive at the investment management firm of Neuberger Berman, LLC., Michael Emmerman of Manhattan combines his M.B.A. from C.W. Post with his experience in international finance. In his personal capacity, Emmerman dedicates much time to helping those in need. His efforts include developing safety protocols for rescue teams and aiding disaster services and law enforcement. Mr. Emmerman serves as director of the Special Operations Group, a not-for-profit organization that provides research and technical advice to law enforcement and public safety agencies. He has assisted at many disaster scenes including the TWA Flight 800 recovery operation and at the World Trade Center on September 11. He also is a trustee at Long Island University.

Carol Markman of Westbury is a partner in the accounting firm of Feldman, Meinberg & Co. LLP., where she serves an array of clientele ranging from individuals and small businesses to estates and not-for-profits. She was voted among the 100 most influential people in accounting by both Accounting Today and CPA Magazine in 1995. Markman is the immediate past president of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners and a past president of the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners. She serves as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Conference of CPA Practitioners and the Women Economic Developers of Long Island.

As chairperson of the North-Shore Long Island Jewish Health System Task Force for Organ Donation and as the Senior Administrative Director of Neurosciences for North Shore/LIJ, Elizabeth Sellman of Oyster Bayhas been instrumental in helping increase organ and tissue donation across Long Island. Her efforts have aided in saving the lives of 100 patients each year. Ms. Sellman was also recently awarded $1 million toward research that examines the effects of family intervention on donation consent rates. She also is committed to ensuring that Long Islanders receive top-quality neurological care.

The College of Management offers the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in finance, international business, marketing, management and management information systems; the highly acclaimed 36-to-48 credit Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree; 5-year accelerated programs in business administration and accountancy, and a dual J.D./M.B.A. with Touro Law Center. The College of Management is also home to the School of Professional Accountancy, which offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in accountancy and taxation, and the School of Public Service, which has degrees in criminal justice, health care administration, public administration and social work.
