C.W. Post Economics Professor Published in International Journals
Dr. Mahfuz Chowdhury, a professor in the Department of Economics at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, has recently published his article "Economics Has and Will Shape the World" in a number of international journals.
His article focuses on how economics shapes things. It currently appears on the web sites of Peace Journalism and World Prout Assembly as well as in a three-part series beginning in this week's edition of The Financial Express and The Independent, two English dailies in Bangladesh.
"The idea of economics is nothing new to people...The main difference between ancient and modern economics is that people have learned to practice economics in a more scientific and organized manner," writes Professor Chowdhury. "The fundamental idea of economics is that economic resources are limited, but human wants are unlimited... there has been tremendous economic progress over time...But...not everybody in society is getting the opportunity to share the benefits equally... As it has done in the past, economics will still shape the future...for reasons of inequality, capitalism is also fueling a kind of social unrest the world has never seen before...what lies ahead for mankind depends entirely on how capitalism meets...challenges."
Professor Chowdhury was born in Chittagong, Bangladesh and has written extensively on his home country.
His book, "Economic Exploitation of Bangladesh," addresses the economics of developing countries, using Bangladesh as a case study.
